Why Teach Children Economics?

We know that learning economics helps children understand our history, government and culture, but it also teaches them to be financially literate. Economic education helps children learn to make decisions about their personal and shared resources, to understand work and careers, and to develop the habit of analytical thinking. Economic principles don't just deal with money and jobs; they are at the core of decisions we make every day - decisions our children will use to shape their lives, our state, and our nation.

We rely on schools to impart basic economic literacy to our children - but teachers can't teach what they don't know. So they turn to us:

The Ohio Council
on Economic Education

The Ohio Council on Economic Education (OCEE) is the only statewide organization to advocate for both economic and personal financial literacy instruction for every child in Ohio.

OCEE is a 501(c)3 not-for-profit organization, largely supported through public and private grants and the contributions of Ohio citizens. We welcome any and all donations.
